Women's Health Myotherapy
Targeted care for how your body feels, functions and holds tension.
At Birthing Body AU, women’s health myotherapy is focused, clinical care delivered in a calm, supportive environment — designed specifically for the way women’s bodies experience tension, load, and change over time.
Located in Diamond Creek and supporting women across Plenty, South Morang, Eltham, Greensborough, Doreen and surrounding areas, this is not a one-size-fits-all treatment. Every session is guided by how your body functions, where it compensates, and what it needs to move and feel better.
This treatment is designed for women who are not currently pregnant or in the early postpartum stage. If you are pregnant or recently postpartum, we recommend booking a pregnancy or postnatal-specific session for care tailored to that phase.
Whether you’re managing ongoing discomfort, feeling the effects of stress on your body, or simply noticing things don’t feel quite right — this is a space to address it properly.

What is Women’s Health Myotherapy?
Women’s health myotherapy is a specialised, evidence-based approach that focuses on how women’s bodies experience pain, tension, and movement throughout different stages of life.
It combines clinical techniques such as joint mobilisation, dry needling, cupping, exercise prescription, pain management and lifestyle modification to address the root cause of discomfort — not just the symptoms.
Unlike general massage, women’s health myotherapy considers the unique physical patterns women often experience. Tension commonly builds through the pelvis, hips, lower back, shoulders, and jaw due to posture, daily demands, stress, and hormonal influences.
The goal of treatment is to:
Reduce pain and muscular tension
Improve movement and mobility
Support posture and alignment
Help regulate the nervous system
Improve how your body functions day-to-day
It can support a range of concerns, including back pain, neck and shoulder tension, hip tightness, headaches, and ongoing muscular discomfort — while also enhancing overall well-being.
In simple terms, it’s targeted, therapeutic care designed specifically for how women’s bodies move, hold stress, and respond to load over time.
Common Conditions Women’s Health Myotherapy Can Help With
-
Back Pain
Back pain is one of the most common issues women experience, often building over time from poor posture, sitting, lifting, or daily load. It can show up as a dull ache, tightness, or sharp discomfort that affects how you move and function. Women’s health myotherapy helps release muscular tension, improve support throughout the body, and reduce strain so you can move more freely and comfortably.
-
Neck & Shoulder Tension
Tension through the neck and shoulders is often linked to desk work, phone use, and the mental load many women carry. This can lead to stiffness, reduced movement, and that constant “tight” feeling. Treatment focuses on releasing built-up tension, improving posture, and helping these areas feel lighter and more relaxed.
-
Pelvic & Hip Pain
The hips and pelvis are key load-bearing areas that can become tight or restricted from prolonged sitting, exercise, or movement patterns. Discomfort here can impact walking, sitting, and overall comfort. Targeted myotherapy helps release tension, support alignment, and restore more balanced movement through these areas.
-
Headaches & Migraines
Many headaches are linked to muscular tension in the neck, shoulders, and jaw. This tension can build gradually, leading to recurring discomfort or migraines. Myotherapy helps reduce these contributing factors by releasing tight muscles and improving circulation, often reducing the frequency and intensity of headaches.
-
Jaw Pain (TMJ Dysfunction)
Jaw tension from clenching or grinding is more common than many realise and can lead to pain, headaches, and tightness through the face and neck. Treatment gently works through the jaw and surrounding muscles to reduce tension, improve movement, and relieve associated discomfort.
-
Postural Imbalances
Spending long periods sitting or repeating the same movements can lead to imbalances in how your body holds itself. Over time, this can create strain, tightness, and discomfort in multiple areas. Myotherapy helps address these patterns by releasing overworked muscles and supporting better alignment and movement.
-
Chronic Muscle Tightness
Some areas of the body hold onto tension long-term, even with rest or stretching. This ongoing tightness can feel frustrating and limiting. Treatment targets these deeper restrictions to release tension, improve muscle function, and create longer-lasting relief.
-
Stress & Nervous System Overload
Stress doesn’t just affect the mind — it shows up physically in the body through tight muscles, shallow breathing, and constant tension. Women’s health myotherapy supports the nervous system, helping your body shift out of a heightened stress state and into a more relaxed, balanced one.
-
Reduced Mobility & Stiffness
Feeling stiff or restricted in your movement can impact everything from exercise to daily tasks. This is often linked to tight muscles and limited joint movement. Myotherapy helps improve flexibility, restore range of motion, and make movement feel easier and more natural.
A Personalised Approach to Myotherapy
Women’s health myotherapy takes a whole-body approach, recognising that pain and tension are often influenced by multiple interconnected systems — not just one isolated area.
Rather than treating only where it hurts, your treatment focuses on how your body functions as a whole, including the relationship among the pelvis, muscles, posture, and nervous system.
Your session may include:
Targeted use of joint mobilisation, dry needling, or cupping to enhance relief
Exercise prescription to improve movement and support your return to the activities you enjoy
Pain management strategies to help you understand your body’s response to treatment and set realistic recovery expectations
Lifestyle modifications aimed at addressing the underlying cause
This approach is focused on more than short-term relief. By improving how your body moves, adapts, and responds, treatment supports longer-lasting change — helping reduce the likelihood of tension returning in the same way.

Hannah Lynch
Myotherapist & Founder
Hi, I’m Hannah — a women’s health Myotherapist, remedial massage therapist, mum of two, and the founder of Birthing Body AU. I’m deeply passionate about supporting women through Pregnancy Massage, Pregnancy Myotherapy, birth preparation, C-Section Scar Therapy, postpartum recovery, and women’s health care at every stage of life.
My own journey into motherhood changed everything. It gave me a much deeper understanding of how much women carry physically, mentally, and emotionally — especially while navigating pregnancy, recovery, parenting, work, and the ongoing demands of everyday life. I experienced firsthand how often women are expected to simply “push through” discomfort, tension, exhaustion, Back Pain, Pelvic Girdle Pain, and the constant changes happening within their bodies.
But I believe you deserve more than just coping.
That’s why my work is centred around creating a calm, supportive space where you feel listened to, cared for, and understood. Whether you’re seeking support for Pregnancy Pelvic Pain, Sciatica Pain, muscle tension, postural strain, birth recovery, or general movement and wellbeing, every treatment is tailored to your body, your symptoms, and what you need support with on the day.
Using a combination of myotherapy, remedial massage, soft tissue therapy, pregnancy massage, and movement-focused care, my goal is to help reduce pain, improve movement, and support you in feeling more comfortable and connected to your body again.
At Birthing Body AU, care is about more than simply treating symptoms — it’s about supporting women through pregnancy, postpartum, recovery, movement, and everyday life with a gentle, evidence-informed, and holistic approach.
