Local Myotherapist in Eltham
At Birthing Body AU, myotherapy is focused clinical care designed to help relieve muscular pain, improve movement and support how your body feels and functions day to day — whether you're managing something that's been building for months or dealing with a more recent flare-up that's starting to affect your daily life.
If you're in Eltham and dealing with muscle pain, tension, headaches or restricted movement, quality care is closer than you think. Hannah Lynch at Birthing Body AU sees clients from Eltham at her clinic in Plenty — just a short drive along Diamond Creek Road — offering hands-on myotherapy with a particular focus on women's health and on how a woman's body changes, adapts, and carries load across different seasons of life.
Women's bodies are not static. Hormonal shifts, the physical demands of pregnancy and postpartum recovery, perimenopause, the cumulative weight of caregiving — all of it lands in the body in real, measurable ways. Tension through the neck and jaw, persistent headaches, a pelvis that hasn't felt right since birth, hip pain that flares with your cycle, a low back that never fully settles — these aren't things to push through or accept as normal. They're signals worth listening to and responding to properly.
Eltham women often arrive carrying the kind of load that doesn't show up on a scan — the mental and physical weight of managing work, family, and everything in between, often while quietly deprioritising their own body. Myotherapy offers a space to bring that load in and address it hands-on with someone who understands how women's musculoskeletal health is shaped by far more than posture or exercise habits alone.
This isn't a one-size-fits-all approach. Every session starts with a proper conversation about your symptoms, your daily load, your hormonal picture and how things have been building. Treatment follows from there — drawing on soft tissue massage, dry needling, joint mobilisation, myofascial release and targeted stretching, combined with practical guidance you can take home. Whether you're pregnant, newly postpartum, navigating perimenopause or simply at a point where your body deserves some focused attention, you'll be seen as a whole person — not a set of symptoms to be moved through quickly.
What Is Myotherapy?
Myotherapy is a hands-on, evidence-informed treatment approach that focuses on assessing and treating muscle, joint, and soft-tissue pain. Rather than only working on the area that feels sore, it looks at how your whole body is moving, where tension is building, and how muscular imbalances, posture, daily habits or previous injuries may be contributing to discomfort.
Hannah, our myotherapist, will assess movement patterns, range of motion and areas of restriction to build a clearer picture of what’s driving your symptoms. This allows treatment to be more specific, targeting both the source of the issue and the surrounding structures that may be compensating or under strain.
Treatment may include a combination of techniques such as soft tissue therapy, trigger point release, joint mobilisation, dry needling, cupping, stretching, corrective exercises, movement retraining, and practical self-care strategies. Sessions are tailored to your individual needs, whether you’re dealing with acute pain, ongoing tightness or looking to improve how your body moves and feels.
Unlike a general relaxation massage, myotherapy is more targeted and outcome-focused. The aim is not just short-term relief, but to understand why pain or tightness is occurring, reduce symptoms, restore function, improve mobility and support longer-term change. You’ll also receive guidance on simple, realistic strategies to help manage your body between sessions and reduce the likelihood of recurring discomfort.
Common Conditions Myotherapy Can Help Eltham Women With
-
Headaches & Migraines
Headaches & migraines — often driven by tension through the neck, jaw, shoulders and upper back. Myotherapy helps reduce the contributing muscular tension and improve comfort through these areas.
-
Lower Back Pain
Lower back pain — from posture, lifting, pregnancy, or the physical demands of parenting. Treatment addresses the muscular tension driving the pain, not just the pain itself.
-
Pelvic Girdle Pain in Pregnancy
Pelvic girdle pain in pregnancy (PGP) — a common pregnancy symptom as the pelvis adapts to support a growing baby. Myotherapy can ease discomfort and improve movement through each trimester.
-
Pelvic Girdle Pain
Pelvic girdle pain — not limited to pregnancy, this can affect women at any stage and often responds well to targeted soft tissue and joint work.
-
Hip Pain
Hip pain and glute tension — affecting walking, sitting, exercise and lower back comfort. Targeted treatment helps improve mobility and supports more balanced movement day to day.
-
Sciatica
Sciatica — discomfort that radiates through the lower back, hips and down the leg. Soft tissue work around the surrounding structures helps reduce compression and ease symptoms.
-
Round Ligament Pain
Round ligament pain — a sharp or pulling pain felt in the lower belly or groin during pregnancy as the round ligaments stretch to support your growing uterus.
-
Postpartum Recovery
Postpartum recovery — the physical demands of feeding, carrying and caring for a newborn place real strain on the neck, shoulders, upper back and core. Myotherapy supports recovery, helps rebuild strength and eases the tension that builds in early motherhood.
-
C Section Scar Discomfort
C-section scar discomfort — tightness, pulling or restricted movement around a healing C-section scar can affect posture and comfort well after birth. Scar release therapy helps improve mobility and reduce tension around the area.
A Personalised Approach to Myotherapy
Every body presents differently, which is why your session begins with a real conversation — not a quick form to tick off, but time spent understanding your symptoms, your lifestyle, your movement patterns and what you're actually hoping to get out of treatment. For many women coming from Eltham, that means factoring in long days at a desk, the school run, weekend walks along the Diamond Creek trails, training for a local sport, or the physical demands of pregnancy and early motherhood. Whatever's going on for you, it shapes how your session is run.
From there, your treatment may include a combination of:
Soft tissue therapy and trigger point release, to ease tight or overworked muscles
Joint mobilisation, to restore comfortable range of motion
Dry needling or cupping where appropriate, depending on what your body responds to
Stretching and mobility work, to support longer-term movement
Exercise prescription, so you have something practical to build on between sessions
Pain management advice for the day-to-day moments when things flare up
Lifestyle and movement recommendations tailored to your routine, whether that's a desk job, parenting, training or all three
This approach is designed to do more than offer short-term relief. By understanding what's actually contributing to your discomfort — your habits, your history, the demands on your body — treatment can address the underlying cause, not just the symptom in front of us. That's what makes the difference between feeling better for a day and feeling genuinely better, longer term.

Hannah Lynch
Myotherapist & Founder
Hi, I’m Hannah — a women’s health Myotherapist, remedial massage therapist, mum of two, and the founder of Birthing Body AU. I’m deeply passionate about supporting women through Pregnancy Massage, Pregnancy Myotherapy, birth preparation, C-Section Scar Therapy, postpartum recovery, and women’s health care at every stage of life.
My own journey into motherhood changed everything. It gave me a much deeper understanding of how much women carry physically, mentally, and emotionally — especially while navigating pregnancy, recovery, parenting, work, and the ongoing demands of everyday life. I experienced firsthand how often women are expected to simply “push through” discomfort, tension, exhaustion, Back Pain, Pelvic Girdle Pain, and the constant changes happening within their bodies.
But I believe you deserve more than just coping.
That’s why my work is centred on creating a calm, supportive space where you feel heard, cared for, and understood. Whether you’re seeking support for Pregnancy Pelvic Pain, Sciatica Pain, muscle tension, postural strain, birth recovery, or general movement and wellbeing, every treatment is tailored to your body, your symptoms, and what you need support with on the day.
Using a combination of myotherapy, remedial massage, soft tissue therapy, pregnancy massage, and movement-focused care, my goal is to help reduce pain, improve movement, and support you in feeling more comfortable and connected to your body again.
At Birthing Body AU, care is about more than simply treating symptoms — it’s about supporting women through pregnancy, postpartum, recovery, movement, and everyday life with a gentle, evidence-informed, and holistic approach.
