Pregnancy Massage & Pregnancy Myotherapy in Diamond Creek, Eltham, Greensborough & Doreen
What Is Pregnancy Massage?
Pregnancy massage, also called prenatal massage, is a specialised treatment designed to support the physical changes that happen as your baby grows.
Unlike a general massage, pregnancy massage is tailored to your changing body, your stage of pregnancy, and the areas experiencing the most strain. Treatment focuses on easing muscular tension, improving circulation, reducing discomfort, and helping you feel more supported in your body.
Pregnancy massage can help to:
Reduce muscular tension and pregnancy-related aches
Ease pressure through the lower back, hips, and pelvis
Improve circulation and reduce feelings of heaviness
Support better posture as your body changes
Help calm the nervous system and encourage relaxation
Create space for rest, release, and connection with your body
For many women, pregnancy massage is an important part of feeling more comfortable, mobile, and supported throughout pregnancy.
What Is Pregnancy Myotherapy?
Pregnancy myotherapy takes a more targeted, clinical approach to treating muscular pain, tension, and movement restrictions during pregnancy.
While prenatal massage focuses on relaxation and relief, pregnancy myotherapy can also incorporate more specific assessment and treatment of the muscles, joints, and movement patterns contributing to your discomfort.
Depending on your needs, pregnancy myotherapy may help with:
Ongoing back or pelvic pain
Hip tension and glute tightness
Rib discomfort
Neck and shoulder pain
Postural strain
Muscular overload from carrying the physical load of pregnancy
This allows treatment to be both nurturing and purposeful — helping you feel better not just during the session but in how your body functions day to day.
Common Pregnancy Concerns Massage & Myotherapy Can Help With
-
Lower Back Pain
As your centre of gravity shifts during pregnancy, the lower back often starts carrying extra load. This can lead to persistent aching, tightness, or discomfort when standing, walking, sleeping, or changing positions. Pregnancy massage and myotherapy help release tension, reduce muscular overload, and support the body as it adapts.
-
Pelvic Girdle Pain
Pain through the pelvis can make everyday movement feel harder, especially rolling in bed, getting dressed, walking, or standing on one leg. Gentle, targeted treatment can help reduce surrounding muscle tension, improve comfort, and support more balanced movement through the pelvis and hips.
-
Hip & Glute Tightness
The hips and glutes often become overloaded during pregnancy as posture changes and the body works harder to stabilise itself. This can create pain, stiffness, or a heavy, tight feeling through the outer hips and buttocks. Treatment helps release these areas and improve ease of movement.
-
Upper Back, Neck & Shoulder Tension
As breasts become heavier and posture changes, tension can build quickly through the shoulders, upper back, and neck. Add in stress, poor sleep, and the daily load of life, and these areas can start to feel constantly tight. Pregnancy massage helps soften this tension and bring relief to overworked muscles.
-
Rib Discomfort
As your baby grows and your ribcage expands, you may feel tightness, pressure, or discomfort through the ribs and upper abdomen. Gentle bodywork can help release surrounding tension and make breathing and movement feel more comfortable.
-
Leg Fatigue & Heaviness
Pregnancy can leave the legs feeling tired, heavy, tight, or swollen, especially later in the day. Prenatal massage supports circulation, helps reduce tension, and can leave the body feeling lighter and more relaxed.
-
Sleep Discomfort
It can be hard to settle and rest when your body feels tight, uncomfortable, or unable to fully relax. Pregnancy massage can help calm the nervous system, ease physical discomfort, and support better quality rest.
-
Stress & Nervous System Overload
Pregnancy can be beautiful, but it can also feel physically and emotionally demanding. Massage offers more than muscular relief — it creates space to slow down, exhale, and give your nervous system a chance to settle.
-
General Pregnancy Aches & Tension
Sometimes it is not one specific issue — it is the overall feeling that your body is working hard and carrying a lot. Pregnancy massage and myotherapy can help reduce that accumulated tension and make your body feel more supported as a whole.
A Personalised Approach to Pregnancy Care
Pregnancy is never static — your body changes week to week, and so does the support it needs.
That is why every session at Birthing Body AU is adapted to:
Your stage of pregnancy
How your body is feeling that day
Where you are holding tension
How comfortable do different positions feel for you
whether you need more focused treatment, more relaxation, or both
Your care may include:
gentle pregnancy massage techniques
targeted myotherapy treatment for overloaded muscles
positioning for comfort and safety
soft tissue release for areas like the back, hips, glutes, shoulders, and legs
practical guidance to help you feel better between sessions
This is treatment that meets you where you are — with comfort, care, and a deep understanding of how pregnancy changes the body.

Hannah Lynch
Myotherapist & Founder
Hi, I’m Hannah — a women’s health Myotherapist, mum of two, and deeply passionate about supporting women through pregnancy, birth and postpartum.
My own journey into motherhood changed everything. It gave me a deeper understanding of just how much women carry — physically, mentally, and emotionally. I experienced firsthand how often women are expected to simply “cope” — with pain, body changes, exhaustion, and the constant demands of caring for others.
But I believe you deserve more than just coping.
That’s why my work is centred around creating a space where you feel truly supported — where your body is listened to, your experiences are validated, and your care is tailored to you. Whether you’re navigating pregnancy, recovering after birth, or feeling the ongoing effects of daily life, my goal is to help you feel more comfortable, more confident, and more connected to your body.
Through a combination of evidence-based approach and a gentle, holistic approach, I aim not only to relieve tension and discomfort but also to support your overall well-being — so you can move through this season feeling stronger, calmer, and more like yourself again.
